Floyd Charles Browning, Jr. of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on January 10, 2023. Over his 70 years, Floyd touched countless lives, inspiring those around him with his unparalleled ability to wring the sweetest of lemonade from all of life's lemons.
Floyd was born in Orange, Texas, on September 26, 1952, before moving with his family to Wichita Falls, Texas, as a child. Floyd attended Wichita Falls High School, where he played football and excelled in track before graduating in 1971.
Floyd worked alongside his father as an electrician before striking out on his own. Working as an independent contractor with Cryovac, he learned and grew, especially as an entrepreneur. In 1985, Floyd focused his efforts on a new business, Browning Sandblasting and Painting. After several successful years, he predicted changes in the market and talked to his wife about pivoting to a new pursuit: automobile sales. In 1992, Floyd and Dianne officially opened Browning's Reliable Cars and Trucks.
Floyd was quick-witted, feisty, and fun-loving. He thrived on time with family, friends, and his beloved Pomeranians, always bringing laughter to every occasion. Floyd enjoyed golf, fishing, and hunting, and scratched his itch for travel with Dianne and various friends and family. The pair explored much of the country by motorcycle on different adventures. Fast motors sparked Floyd's passion from an early age, and he loved them all–dirt bikes, motorcycles, race cars, boats, and more. But his truest passions were for God and care for those around him. A philanthropist at his core, Floyd inspired those around him by his limitless desire to help others.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 33 years, Dianne Browning; sister Debbie Bennett and husband John; sons Justin C. Browning and wife Christi, and Jeff L. Browning and wife Amy; stepdaughters Aleasha Shelnutt and husband Lee, and Krystal Marazzi and husband Wayne; granddaughters Jayden, Kalee, Gavin, and Lynden; and grandsons James, Jace, Jasen, Jesse, and Keltin, and a host of other friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by parents, Pat (Dixon) Ashlock and Floyd C. Browning, Sr.; sister Mari Beth Browning; and grandson, Justin Shelnutt.
Family visitation will be at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home on Monday, January 16th from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 17th, at 1:00 P.M. at Lunn's Chapel with Bob McCartney officiating.
